There and Back Again (thanks to J.R.R. Tolkien and Jon Boleware for that). This is the name we chose for our family road trip adventure. While it is literally appropriate, we are actually going "there" and coming "back again," we hope this trip reflects the mission of the pilgrimage taken by Frodo and his friends (minus death, the dragon and the big feet). We think it fits and hopefully you agree.
This trip is more than a family vacation - it is a microadventure (thanks Al Humphreys) and a miniature pilgrimage. Besides having a great name, the theme of our trip, just like the theme of our life, is live ordinary well. If you've made it this far in the blog, you already know what that means so it seems redundant to talk about it again, but just in case you missed it...
In planning this trip, we thought it would be a great idea to bring some local companies on the road with us. Fortunately for us, these fine folks agreed. Those listed below have all generously donated swag for us to use while we're out there. Stuff that makes our days better (not because it's just stuff, but useful stuff) and more fun. Behind this stuff are companies and individuals that have values common to our own. The items they donated physically represent the ideas behind live ordinary well. Their logos below link to an interview we did with each company so take a minute and find out how they live ordinary well.
